A very common issue is ghost code - you can't see it unless you know it's there - perhaps you've written your website content in Word and you've copied and pasted it straight into the Basespace CMS. When you go to preview the pages they either look funny or no longer validate!
A quick look at the page in the CMS shows no obvious problems, however if you click the View Source option at the bottom, you're going to see a whole lot more than you expected. But don't panic, this is easy to resolve.
When copying from any program that formats text to improve the layout, pass what you've copied through a very simple program - Notepad is the best example and comes with Windows.
Copy from Word, Paste in Notepad. Copy all from Notepad and then paste in the Basespace CMS. - et voila Clean Code.
