Eastern Utility Services Ltd. Based in Ely Cambridgeshire, EUS is the only overhead line external service provider in the UK to provide live line "hot glove" techniques to assist with planned maintenance projects on 11kv or higher distribution networks. With a client base which includes the UK's largest electrical distribution companies, EUS were poised for growth in late 2005.

A strategy was devised to ensure that EUS could meet and exceed their customer's expectations as they were awarded new contracts. Part of this strategy was the development of a website that reflected the reliable and forward thinking nature of the company. The new website would be dynamic, attractive and interesting. User community support would be an important feature, as EUS outlined their plans for a Linesman Passport system.

Basespace was awarded the contract to develop the new website and Linesman Passport system. After a period of design concept development and brainstorming, Basespace produced a new corporate identity for EUS and put forward the development plans. Utilizing the Basespace Content Management System, the website includes an intuitive interface for content updates. A powerful staff management system, the Linesman Passport, assists with quality assurance of work and on-site safety. Accessed via a secure website login, it provides visibility of the qualifications, training and audits of every linesman EUS employs. This boosts customer confidence tremendously.

www.easternus.co.uk was launched earlier this year to specification and on time. EUS have received positive feedback from their customers and the Linesman Passport is a very positive differentiator for it when competing for the award of contracts. The website is indexing well on search engines and Linesman from around the world are visiting and enquiring about vacancies.
